I wanted to talk a little about core strength. I always get asked what the best exercises for core development are. Crunches and sit ups are not on my list, in fact these two exercises can be hard on the lumbar spine. If I had to choose the most effective movements for developing a strong core they would be 1. The Turkish-Get-up

2. The swing

3. loaded carries

These 3 movements will give you the biggest bang for your buck when it comes to developing a strong core. In fact if you only did these three movements for the rest of your life you would not only have a strong core, but you would have a strong body capable of conquering whatever life throws at you. Keep your training simple and effective, this is the philosophy at Aptitude Fitness.
